Description
Grown in Langlois by Valley Flora Farm using organic practices, these are an heirloom, the plants of which were originally gifted to mom Betsy by a friend back in the 70’s. These artichokes will vary in size, so you can expect to get approximately 4-6, depending on total weight. The peak season for artichoke harvesting is the spring (May and early June here on the coast), but they can continue to be harvested throughout the summer, with another peak period in mid autumn.
When harvested, they are cut from the plant so as to leave an inch or two of stem. Artichokes possess good keeping qualities, frequently remaining quite fresh for two weeks or longer under average retail conditions.
