Description

Gouda Organic Cheese – or “How-da” as the locals say – is a Dutch cheese named after the city of Gouda in the Netherlands. It is one of the most popular cheeses in the world, accounting for 50% to 60% of the world’s cheese consumption. It is a semi-hard cheese celebrated for its rich, unique flavor and smooth texture. Made by Rumiano Cheese Company in Crescent City, certified organic and non-GMO.

As a substitute for Fontina (a cheese that was recently discontinued by Rumiano’s), Gouda is one of the best. One reason is that they have a similar texture and density. Just like Fontina, this kind of cheese melts easily, so it’s great for pasta, sauces, soups, and sandwiches. Since Gouda is also made from cow’s milk, it has a similar taste to that of Fontina. It has the same creamy, nutty taste – light and mild – so you can use a generous amount of this when cooking your favorite dish.
