Description
Grown by Norm Lehne Garden & Orchards (Roseburg), Green Anaheim Peppers are medium-sized, elongated and curved peppers; the semi-thick skin is smooth with deep indentations. Anaheims have a crunchy consistency with a bright, slightly fruity, and peppery taste and a moderate spice that doesn’t linger. When cooked, the pepper develops a smoky, sweet, and tangy flavor. Sold by the each.
The name “Anaheim” derives from Emilio Ortega, a farmer who brought the seeds to the Anaheim, California, area in the early 1900s. They are also called California Chile or Magdalena, and dried as chile seco del norte. Since Anaheim peppers originated from New Mexico, they are also sometimes known as New Mexico peppers. The Anaheim typically ranges from 500 to 2,500 on the Scoville Heat Scale.
