Description

Hakurei turnips are a creamy white salad turnip with a mild, sweet flavor, and are bunched at approximately 5 to 7 in a bunch, depending on size (they range from golf ball size to tennis ball size). Occasionally they come by the pound, if their tops aren’t up to snuff.

They come to you from Valley Flora Farm (Langlois), Ocean Air Farm (Ft. Dick, CA), or Norm Lehne Garden & Orchards (Roseburg) – specified below – and all three farms use organic practices in their veggie fields.

Store in the crisper for a week or two (remove the leaves and stems before storing). To use, peel any brown spots away, then eat raw as a crudite. Best used raw, although a light saute works too.

These Hakurei turnips are so good when sliced and added to a green salad. We especially like the really small Hakurei turnips!
