Description

Parsnips are another root crop that Valley Flora Farm in Langlois grows each year. The parsnip (Pastinaca sativa) is a root vegetable closely related to the carrot and parsley. It is a biennial plant usually grown as an annual. Its long, tuberous root has cream-colored skin and flesh; and left in the ground to mature, it becomes sweeter in flavor after winter frosts. Grown using organic practices.

Keep parsnips loosely wrapped in the produce drawer of the refrigerator, and use within two to three weeks. Not sure what to do with parsnips? Try one of these delicious recipes, brought to you by Martha Stewart
