This is the first variety that’s available from Lehne Farms LLC (Roseburg), and it’s definitely going to remind you of summer!
This all-yellow sweet corn is a “Super-Sweet” hybrid. According to Gurney’s Seed Company, this means it has an extra-sweet flavor and crisp texture, a higher sugar content than normal or sugar-enhanced varieties, and a slower conversion of sugars to starches, meaning this corn will stay sweet for more than a week. And now that we’re in “corn season”, you can expect to see it here at OtterBee’s for the next couple of months at least; we’ve seen some years where the corn is available into October…
All the corn at Lehne Farms is non-GMO, but also non-organic, as the farm conducts regular monitoring of the corn earworm and sprays to control it. In fact, this is one of the crops that they grow using “IPM” (Integrated Pest Management) methods.
