Description
Arugula is an edible leafy green from the Brassica family (the same family as Kale and Broccoli), normally used in salads for its sharp, peppery flavor. Valley Flora Farm in Langlois (North Curry County) grows a very pretty, lobed-leaf variety called “Sylvetta” using organic practices. Arugula is often an integral part of salad mixes known as “mesclun”.
To store, wrap the stems in a damp paper towel, then place the bunch in a plastic bag. This will keep it fresh for a day or two. Alternatively, you can store arugula like a flower bouquet, in a glass of water in the fridge.
