Description
7 Oaks Farm (Central Point) grows these luscious fruits at their farm in the Rogue Valley! And of course, they don’t harvest any of their cantaloupe until they’re ripe and “slipping”, because the longer a cantaloupe stays on the vine, the sweeter the flavor…
When perfectly ripe, the flesh of a cantaloupe is juicy and sweet. It will feel heavy versus hollow, a weightiness which is an indicator of its water content. The ripe fruit releases its trademark floral musky aroma. It will also have a good cantaloupe smell on the stem end, and the scar at the stem end should be a smooth and well-rounded cavity (this proves that it was harvested at the peak of sweetness, i.e. “slipped” from the vine!)
