Original Bean Soup Mix is a hearty soup with a tasty pesto herb blend, and can be prepared with our without meat. The soup freezes well and can thaw and reheat in just minutes. Note: Recipe included on each package – see below.

  • Ingredients: dried mixed beans (kidney, pinto, navy, black eyed, Great Northern, baby and large lima, garbanzo, black and small red beans, green and yellow split peas, lentils); Herb packet (bay leaf, mixed spices)

Original Bean Soup Recipe

1 pkg. Original bean soup mix (10 oz.)
2 quarts water
3 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 lb. ground beef, browned (can substitute ham or turkey)
2 diced tomatoes (or one 16 oz. can diced tomatoes)
1 large onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, chopped
1 teaspoon salt
Fresh ground pepper to taste

Directions: Remove herb packet from soup mix; set aside. Soak beans for at least four hours or overnight in water. Drain and then add two quarts of water. Bring quickly to boil and cook for 30 minutes. Add remaining ingredients, including contents of herb packet. Simmer for 45-60 minutes until beans are tender, adding water if necessary. Remove bay leaf before serving. Makes 8-11 cups. (Crockpot  Method: soak beans overnight and drain. Add above ingredients and slow cook for 8-10 hours until beans are tender.)
