Sourdough Bread from North Garden Bakery (Crescent City). Made with all organic ingredients and naturally leavened (i.e. with wild yeast). This loaf is prepared through a 2-day process. Slightly sour, chewy. One-lb loaf.
North Garden Bakery is a small-batch bakery, specializing in artisan quality, organic, naturally leavened breads. They source ingredients from local Del Norte and Humboldt County producers whenever possible, including Rumiano Cheese, Alexandre Family Farm, and Humboldt Grain Girls.
Ingredients: Organic, Unbleached Bread flour (unbleached Hard Red Wheat Flour, Malted Barley Flour), Water, Sea Salt.

I’ll give 4 stars for excellent quality ingredients, skillful baking and taste. But be aware that it is small — that’s the reason for deducting one star. I was expecting a normal size boule — that size would have been expensive, but I have been desperate for good bread and wanted to try it.
It is one pound, but because it is denser than the typical boule, it is also much smaller. Although I really liked the flavor, unfortunately I won’t be buying it again — it is just too pricey for my budget.
